Over the hill?

There is a commonly held view that retirement is being put out to pasture. This is reinforced by the Google definition of retirement as: “A person who does nothing”.   This is far from the truth and yet in years gone by this was the norm for our grandparents who literally just sat on the stoep. In these modern times, doing nothing or just having fun all day every day, soon gets boring, leading to decline both mentally and physically.

 We baby boomers are at a vibrant stage of our lives and want to live a fulfilling retirement, full of energy and vibrancy for many years.  In our joint blog with Dr Hannetjie van Zyl-Edeling, explores mindfulness as one of the ways to achieve rewirement or a vibrant encore in retirement.
